This film documents the departure of two lorries from London, which have been filled with aid collected by the Ukrainian community following an initiative by the Association of Ukrainian Women in Great Britain (AUW). This was the first campaign delivered by AUW's Ukrainian Children's Appeal Fund (Fond Materi i Dytyny) and was intended to help mothers and children affected by the Chernobyl / Chornobyl nuclear disaster by supplying medicines and other essential items. The film was made by the Ukrainian Video Archive Society (UVAS). The film is in colour with sound and the main language is Ukrainian with occasional English. This film records a ceremony held at the statute of St Volodymyr at Holland Park Avenue in London, from where the lorry set off on its route across Europe to Kyiv (Kiev). The ceremony is led by Bohdana Khrusheltnytska, chair of AUW, with support from Lessia Djakowska and Iryna Terlecky who were all instrumental in organising the campaign. Bohdana Khrushelnytsky gives an opening speech, followed by a list of all the items in the lorry including amounts and weights, which is read by Iryna Terlecky and Lessia Djakowska In English and Ukrainian. The final items are loaded in to the lorries, and there is an interview with the lorry driver.
