A banner on a wall reads ‘Rolls Royce Rally Kirby Stephen 2pm Sunday Sept. 13th’ changes to a layby on the A683 near Sedbergh where Rolls Royce cars are parked up along the verge with their owners stand around chatting.
A woman helps a small boy over a stile followed by John and Peter Ellwood coming over the stile themselves and running up a hill that overlooks the road and layby below. Another Rolls Royce arrives passing a Hillman Imp. John and Peter rush down the hill slipping and sliding as they go. Back in the layby Kath Ellwood walks past three Rolls Royce cars, two of them open top. She and Deborah Ellwood look over a white open top Rolls Royce parked beside a modern car.
Beside the stile seen previously a man speaks into a megaphone, a boy standing beside him. The drivers get into their vehicles and driving out of the layby onto the A683. Children sit in the white open top Rolls Royce looked over by Kath and Deborah earlier and wave as they pass.
At Kirby Stephens the cars are parked along Market Street with large crowds wondering around looking over them. Traffic moves slowly along Market Street trying to avoid hitting pedestrians crossing the road, amongst the crowds Kath, Peter, and John.
