An amateur film produced by Ken Ellwood of a commemorative ceremony taking place outside the former works of John Fowler & Company on Leathley Road, Hunslet, Leeds in West Yorkshire. Crowds look over several Fowler traction engines on display after which speeches are made and the plaque is unveiled marked the site of the former Fowler Works. The film ends on a convoy of Fowler traction engines travelling out of Leeds along the ring road. Crowds wonder past a series of John Fowler & Company steam traction engines parked in front of the former factory. Another engine with a plaque on the side reading ‘Lubrication by Millers Oils’ reverses and parks beside the others, another engine pulls out and drives past. A crowd gathers around a traction engine parked in front of a set of gates. A rope has been attached to the crane section of the traction engine which is in turn is attached to a red cloth draped over an unknown object. Several men and women make speeches into a microphone, behind them a group of seated dignitaries listening with a larger crowd standing in front beside the traction engine. The crane lifts the drape revealing a commemorative plaque, the crowd applauds. The plaque reads ‘On this site stood the Steam Plough Works of John Fowler Steam and Agricultural Engineer 1861-1974’. A procession of Fowler steam traction engines travel along an urban dual carriageway watched by a small crowd along the central reservation.
