Crowds look over several Fowler traction engines on display after which speeches are made and the plaque is unveiled marked the site of the former Fowler Works. Crowds wonder past a series of John Fowler & Company steam traction engines parked in front of the former factory. Another engine with a plaque on the side reading ‘Lubrication by Millers Oils’ reverses and parks beside the others, another engine pulls out and drives past.
A crowd gathers around a traction engine parked in front of a set of gates. A rope has been attached to the crane section of the traction engine which is in turn is attached to a red cloth draped over an unknown object. Several men and women make speeches into a microphone, behind them a group of seated dignitaries listening with a larger crowd standing in front beside the traction engine.
The crane lifts the drape revealing a commemorative plaque, the crowd applauds. The plaque reads ‘On this site stood the Steam Plough Works of John Fowler Steam and Agricultural Engineer 1861-1974’.
