A home movie produced by Ken and Kath Ellwood featuring them and their three eldest children David, Deborah and John gardening at the family home on Tarn Moor Crescent in Skipton, North Yorkshire. In the family garden Kath shows her son some Hyacinths planted in a decorative flower bed, out in the front garden Ken Ellwood works on another bed of Hyacinths. David and Kath work together to mow the lawn after which Kath does deadheads of some daffodils. Out the front Ken mows the lawn putting the cuttings onto a compost heap around the back. Kath trims the edges of the lawn after which she uses a garden hoe on one of several flowerbeds full of tulips. Ken and David help out using a hoe on another flowerbed. John followed by Deborah Ellwood come down a slide set up on the lawn, David followed by Kath take their turn. Ken pushes Deborah around the garden in a miniature wheelbarrow. Ken uses a hoe to turn the soil on a bed of tulips followed by views of the variously coloured flowers. John plays in the garden before sitting in his father’s knee looking at flowers growing in a bed. Ken takes his son over to a tree growing on the lawn, John plays with blossom growing there. Ken uses the hoe again this time around a patch of potatoes. John playing on the lawn changes to Kath and Ken separating seedlings and planting it in a flowerbed. Standing beside a wheelbarrow John points at the potato patch. Kath digs up a crop of potatoes with a fork and she and John work together putting the potatoes into the wheelbarrow before she helps him push it away. Ken puts John into a larger wheelbarrow and pushes him to another part of the potato crop. He uses a folk to dig up more potatoes after which Deborah and John help by washing them in a bucket of water. John smiles at the funny shaped potato in his hand, Kath is also amused. David walks over and picks an apple from a tree. Close up of other apples growing in the tree as well as other flowers in the garden.
