A home movie produced by Ken Ellwood begins with his eldest son David's graduating from Dundee University in 1980. In the second part of the film his daughter Deborah graduates from Newcastle University in 1981.
David Ellwood and two friends come down a set of steps in their graduation gowns. Another man comes down the steps and David comes back to shakes his hand. The four of them walk over to a garden area, a man comes over and shakes one of the other men’s hands. They walk along...
A home movie produced by Ken Ellwood begins with his eldest son David's graduating from Dundee University in 1980. In the second part of the film his daughter Deborah graduates from Newcastle University in 1981.
David Ellwood and two friends come down a set of steps in their graduation gowns. Another man comes down the steps and David comes back to shakes his hand. The four of them walk over to a garden area, a man comes over and shakes one of the other men’s hands. They walk along Perth Road passing the Dundee Wholefood Co-Operative.
On the steps outside Caird Hall graduates stand around, a mother helps her son with his gown. David and one of his friends make his way inside followed by Kath Ellwood. Following the graduations students, their parents and friends stand outside Caird Hall chatting in the rain. Another graduate stands beside his parents smiling.
Kath comes out of a marquee carrying a cup of tea and plate of food. Around her people standing about chatting. David stands with a friend near the entrance of the marquee speaking with a man. Some of the guests stand chatting on a lawned area in front of a large building, several cars are parked near to two marquees around which stand a large crowd. David and his friend walk past.
Sitting on a wall outside the Student’s Union Building at Newcastle University sits Kath Ellwood. Outside the redbrick building a graduate has his photograph taken changes to Deborah coming up a set of steps and walking past with two male colleagues. Deborah poses with two friends outside the Student’s Union Building.
Kath helps to adjust her daughter’s graduation gown, around them a crowd of other graduates and their parents and friends. A young man stands chatting with Deborah changing to her chatting with some female friends.
Deborah poses with four colleagues or friends all in their graduation gowns in front of an ivy-covered building. Deborah speaks with a man holding a professional camera. Everyone makes their way through a quad exiting the university via The Arches. The film ends with Deborah shaking hands with a man beside a parked car in a street.
