A home movie produced by Ken Ellwood which features the first Christmas for his youngest son Peter. He is given his own Christmas stocking filled with gifts and following Christmas dinner joined by his three older sibling David, Deborah, and John in the front room to open presents. In the second part of the film shot the following summer the Ellwood children play with a paddling pool and water hose in the family’s garden at Tarn Moor Crescent in Skipton, North Yorkshire. The final part of the film is of a beach holiday at St-Anne’s on the Sea in Lancashire. Baby Peter stands in his cot, beside him a Christmas stocking with his name and the year written on it. A hand holds the full stocking beside him, sitting back down he attempts to pull out the first present stuffed inside. A large, cooked turkey on the dining room table, around it David and Deborah who stick their thumbs up at the camera while John eats a sausage. A pair of hands slices the turkey serving them up onto plates. In the living room the Ellwood children open their presents. John, wearing a cowboy outfit, plays with a toy excavator while Deborah takes a doll from its pram. Peter, wearing a knitted jumper, plays with a small ball while David puts down a fencing sword and opened a paint set and holds up a construction set. Deborah and John build a motorized toy railway on the carpet, they watch as the train travels back and forth. The children continue to play with their new toys with David putting on a record. The following summer David, Deborah and John along with their friends play in a paddling pool set up in the garden. Peter, now walking, is curious about a water hose on the grass. He picks it up but runs away when he realises water is coming out of it. Deborah does gymnastics after which David chases her and their friends around the garden with the hose. They take turns splashing themselves with water as Peter wonders through a flowerbed. Ken walks across the lawn picking Peter up and posing with him. Peter plays with a large ball on the lawn carefully climbing a set of stone steps at one point to retrieve it. On the beach at St Anne's-on-the-Sea, David and John play football together with John in goal and David trying to score. Deborah walks past with several friends, around them large crowds of holidaymakers relaxing in deckchairs. A group of children including David and Deborah go looking for crabs under the pier. They pick one up with a spade and put it into a bucket. Ken and Richard play football and the film ends with Deborah laying down with her friends marking the shape of her body in the sand.
