A home movie produced by Ken Ellwood of the christening of his youngest son Peter followed by a family day out to Bolton Abbey along the River Wharfe where his children catch fish which they placed into a home-made pond.
A car pulls up outside the Ellwood home on Heath Crescent in Bradley and a woman gets outs. She passes the Ellwood children playing in the street as she makes her way towards the house. A second older woman poses with baby Peter in her arms. David, Deborah and John come down the steps of the family home and stands next to the woman who is still holding Peter, they salute.
The car seen previously is moved and parked in the family garage. Kath Ellwood comes out of the house with David, Deborah and John by her side and Peter in her arms. She is followed by the two other women and a man who locks the front door behind him. Kath gets into a car with Peter.
Following Peter's christening Kath and the Ellwood children come out of a church past other guests. Inside the church a decorative stained-glass window. Back outside Ken and Kath accompany their children through the churchyard posing for photos besides the church gate alongside the woman seen earlier driving the car. Deborah and John kiss the cheek of their sleeping baby brother, the older woman now stands beside Kath.
Back home Kath cuts a large cake watched by David changes to Deborah in the bath being joined by her brothers. They splash and play around happily. Kath puts baby Peter into the bath beside his siblings, they each kiss him on the head. The three older siblings continue to play in the bath changing to them play fighting in the pyjamas on the floor of their bedroom. They each kiss their baby brother goodnight.
The Ellwood family along with an older boy, presumably a friend of David’s, make their way along a path towards Bolton Abbey. They cross a food bridge over the River Wharfe with David carrying a fishing net. In their swimming outfits the children walk along the rocky shore of the Wharfe looking for fish to catch in their nets. With the assistance of Kath, they catch a few stickleback fish putting them into a bucket. They begin to build a small pond on the edge of the river and place the finish they’ve caught into it.
David and his friend begin to build a larger dam across the Wharfe while Deborah and John enjoy sweets provided to them by their mother. Peter sits on Kath knee playing happily with older brother John.
