Summary A home movie produced by Ken Ellwood featuring all four of his children begins with his two eldest, David and Deborah, visit London to see some of the cities more famous destinations including Buckingham Palace and Horse Guards Parade. They also visit the Peter Pan Sculpture in Kensington Gardens and go train spotting at King’s Cross railway station. Joined by younger brother John the family next takes a journey on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Miniature Railway in Cumbria after which the final member of the Ellwood family Peter is brought home from the hospital during the winter of 1963. In the final part of the film David, Deborah and John go sledding and enjoy the snow near the family home before heading home and kissing their youngest brother goodnight. |

David and Deborah Ellwood walk through Kensington Gardens and enjoy ice-cream sandwiches sitting at an outdoor table. They run through the London park to look at and touch the Peter Pan sculpture. They look through the gates of Buckingham Palace before climbing the steps of the nearby Victoria Monument. They watch a Guardsman marching up and down outside the entrance of Horse Guards Parade before joining the crowds to watch the Changing of the Guard. In Trafalgar Square they sit on the edge of a fountain eating apples after which they go chase pigeons.
At King’s Cross railway station David and Deborah write down the engine number of diesel locomotive Deltic D9009 Alycisdon as it pulling into the platform beside them. At the controls of the locomotive the driver watches where he is going. The British Rail Peppercorn Class A1 60125 Scottish Union steam locomotive pulls into another platform.
Two boys help two men on the Ravenglass and Eskdale miniature railway attach an engine to carriages. Sitting in one of the said carriages the Ellwood family. Phantom railway journey along the seven-mile route arriving at Dalegarth station. The engine is turned on a turntable and re-attached to the train for the return journey to Ravenglass. Now at the front of the train brother David and John look out on the surrounding landscape during the journey back.
Sitting in the family car John bobs his head up and down hiding from the camera. Kath appears in the entrance of a maternity hospital carrying her fourth child, Peter. She climbs into the car introducing him to his older brother. Back at the family home on Heath Crescent in Bradley John climbs out of the car making his way along the snowy driveway to the house.
The three eldest Ellwood children go sledding near Short Lee Lane in Bradley. With Deborah at the control the three of them come down the snowbank at speed. John watches as his older siblings clear snow from the sled after which he sits on it for the journey back to the top of the hill. Laying on his stomach he come down by himself. Deborah and John run around in the snow making fresh footprints, she helps him climb over a fence. They make drawing in the snow after which the run up and downs skidding and slipping in the snow.
Back home Kath breastfeeds youngest son Peter. In their pyjamas David, Deborah and John come over and kiss their younger brother goodnight. Sitting together on the floor all four Ellwood siblings smile and laugh while posing for the camera alongside their mother.
