The first report is on the raising crime rate in Middlesbrough and its effect on student life. The second looks at how good the Student’s Union Bar ‘Union Central’ actually is.
In a studio student presenters Simon Button and Jamie Beech sit behind desks, their backdrop the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge. They introduce this edition of ‘Tees News’.
The first report is on the ‘darker side of Teesside’ asking has crime in the town increased? Interview with representative from the Student’s Union who says that the reporting of crimes has increased. He also talks about what is being done by the Student’s Union to help warn students of potential dangers and provide general safety tips. The interview is intercut with students walk around the Student’s Union and Learning Resource Centre on Southfield Road and across King Edward’s Square. A back alley behind Victoria Street leading to student accommodation at Woodlands Halls.
Back in the student one of the presenters introduces the second investigative report by ‘Mike-on-a-Bike’ looking at the Student Union’s bar ‘Union Central’. Inside the bar students chatting over a few drinks, a group of four male students are asked if they should extend the licencing hours, they agree, and what they think of the atmosphere. The report ends outside ‘The Intrepid Explorer’ on Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough which is the focus of next week’s investigation.
Back in the studio Simon and Jamie end the show.
