Unedited footage produced by Tyne Tees Television of a wedding taking place at St Mary’s West Acklam near Middlesbrough. The groom is a local binman who arrives at the church in his bin lorry. Following the service, the happy couple pose beside the vehicle before driving away together in it.
Outside St Mary’s church a Rolls-Royce wedding car, pulling up behind it a Biffa Waste Services bin lorry decorated in pink ribbons and flowers. A man in a morning suit jumps out, a small group of guests wait by the church entrance. From the graveyard the lorry parked on Church Lane with a small group of onlookers waiting for the service inside the church to end.
A man with video camera records the day’s events. Eventually the happy couple appear at the church door arm-in-arm. Behind them the bridesmaids, they are posed by a photographer for wedding pictures before walk down the path towards Church Lane and the waiting bin lorry. She looks on in shock at the vehicle parked there, she repeats ‘I don’t believe it!’.
The couple embrace and kiss before he gets into the cab, his bride poses on the lorries footplate. They kiss watched by everyone, the photographer taking snaps. At the back of the lorry the groom picks up his bride as she holds the bouquet for more photographs, someone throws confetti. A small girl comes over and offers the bride a lucky-horseshoe ornament.
The bin lorry reverses, metallic wedding balloons attached to the rear. The couple pose again at the rear of the lorry as their guests throw confetti over them. The groom followed by the bride, with some help, get into the cab. They wave at their guests as they are driven away, the wave and smile at the camera as they pass.
