This is followed by a football match taking place in a field near the village of Wearhead in Weardale between the local team and that of Sunderland Association Football Club.
Along School Hill, a road outside the hamlet of Copthill in Weardale, an overturned ‘H.D. Ward Ltd’ lorry with crane attachment which has crashed into a drystone wall. Two policemen look over the scene from a safe distance as it has blocking the road.
A group of workmen use ropes to drag a large piece of metal, part of the lorry, from the road watched over by the two policemen. A second lorry is then used to push that piece of metal off the road into the verge. A winch has been constructed over the lorry which has upturned it, the road now cleared a car drives past.
The workmen move one of three wooden poles onto which the winch used to move the lorry is attached as it was also blocking the road. A crowd now gathers looking over the accident scene, the workmen and one of the policemen look over the wreck of the lorry.
