A home movie made by Edwin Davison featuring some of the sailing ships moored along the Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides as part of the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race taking place on the River Tyne from 15-18th July, 1986. The Polish sailing training ship Dar Mlodziezy moored along a quayside along the River Tyne with members of the crew climbing in the rigging. A large marquee is erected nearby, beyond that a fairground with rides. Another large sailing ship is moored near to the Spillers’...
A home movie made by Edwin Davison featuring some of the sailing ships moored along the Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides as part of the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race taking place on the River Tyne from 15-18th July, 1986. The Polish sailing training ship Dar Mlodziezy moored along a quayside along the River Tyne with members of the crew climbing in the rigging. A large marquee is erected nearby, beyond that a fairground with rides. Another large sailing ship is moored near to the Spillers’ Tyne Mill, large lettering on the mill reads ‘Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race’. From the Tyne Bridge the busy river below and sailing ships moored along both sides of the river. Crowds watch from the riverside as the sailing ships of various sizes begin to sail down the Tyne towards the North Sea.
