Visitors walk the battlements of Doune Castle in Perthshire, Scotland and trees lining the banks of the river Teith below. The filmmaker wife Evelyne and daughter Karen come through a large wooden door. Exterior views of the castle and a visitors sign nearby.
From atop the Wallace Monument inside Stirling Castle Evelyne and Karen looking out across the surrounding landscape followed by them walking along a path beside a river [the image jumps as if filmed in timelapse].
A passenger boat is moored along a quayside with those onboard getting off. Onboard Karen looks through a porthole as the boat travels along the River Forth. From the deck views of the surrounding landscape. The family car is parked beside a loch surrounded by hills and mountains. The film changes to and busy streets that feature the Station Inn, possibly a boarded-up shop named ‘Carole’s’ and next door ‘Ainsworth’ fish and poultry shop.
Writing on a chalkboard reads ‘London 1966’ and a view across the city skyline possibly from the Post Office Tower. A woman walks along The Mall towards Buckingham Palace and the Victoria Memorial where Karen appears walking up the steps. She holds her hand out for the pigeons to feed from, in the background a mounted cavalry troop ride past the palace dressed in their distinctive red tunics.
Karen walks along Whitehall, behind her Elizabeth Tower. From Parliament Square Westminster Abbey and the Palace of Westminster from Westminster Bridge. Two policemen stand outside 10 Downing Street and Karen looking up at a member of the Household Cavalry on horseback outside Dover House and Horse Guard Parade. Karen once again feeds the pigeons on Trafalgar Square with one bird sitting in her head. Outside the Tower of London near Tower Bridge a Beefeater walks past. Back at Whitehall a marching military band parades past the Cenotaph followed by men carrying banners. From a viewing area at Heathrow Airport airplanes taking off and landing taxiing to various gates.
In the family garden at Wallsend Karen playing with a puppet before picking up and playing with her pet rabbit. From the deck of a ship under construction at Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd at Wallsend views of the River Tyne and shipyard below. A Tyne Ferry crosses towards the landing at Wallsend, large cranes dominate the landscape.
The tanker Narica on the slipway ready to be launched, a crowd watches as it slides into the water. The date on an office calendar reads 25th April. The film ends on views of a modern shopping precinct believed to be Billingham and Karen standing beside a statue,
