From the Newcastle quayside the Tyne Bridge with Swing and High-Level bridges behind it. A bus crosses the Tyne Bridge while a passenger train crosses the High-Level.
In the family garden at Wallsend a Boxer dog plays with its toy on a rug, the filmmakers daughter Karen comes over and attempts to ride it. The two continue to play together happily, Karen climbing onto the back of the dog. The dog comes back into the garden carrying a basket in its mouth, inside a skipping rope which it drags out onto the rug and begins to chew on.
The filmmakers wife Evelyne places a long-stemmed potted red flower onto the garden path in front of a window. She walks away and Karen proceeds to walk around and sniff it, the plant being as tall as she is.
In a show field at the Corbridge Fair a man in a white lab coat attempts to control a bull which he is holding onto with bridle. A crowd watches as other bulls are lead around the showground.
A sign on a wall reads ‘The Keep’ changing to the roof of Newcastle Keep where two trains can be seen departing from Newcastle Central Station. The camera pans-around the city skyline showing the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas and traffic moving along St. Nicholas Street below. The sequence ends on the Tyne Bridge.
At the Hopping’s Fair people enjoy a switchback fairground ride. Around them large crowds wondering past other attractions including a rocking-boat ride moves back-and-forth. Lettering above one tent that reads ‘Joby’s Bingo’, overhead an aircraft flying past. At attendance checks passengers are fastened into their seats as a rocket ride begins to get faster and faster, the cars rising into the air. In the background a Ferris wheel slowly turning. A woman and girl watch another switchback ride, this time the cars are covered over as they speed past. A ‘Meteorite’ ride with passengers strapped into a cage as it spins around at speed. Above a children’s ride an image of Mickey Mouse slowly turning. On a swing ride, passengers spin past high in the air.
On the beach at Tynemouth Karen sits playing in a wooden boat on the sand, around her other boats covered with tarpaulins. She climbs out walking towards the camera.
In a field Evelyne wearing a red jacket works inside a tent, beside her a green Mini-van. Edwin washes himself with a cloth watched by his wife. In the near distance a river passing through conifer woodland with a track or road nearby. Evelyne races across the field towards a house, around the field other tents and vehicles parked beside them.
A bird hops around outside the tent, Karen leans against a car looking at the camera. Inside the tent Edwin pours heated milk from a saucepan, Karen comes over before sitting in the passenger seat of the Minivan taking off her wellington boots, she waves. Writing on the van reads ‘Rent a Flower’. Evelyne comes over carrying a bucket of water, the film ends on Karen running towards the camera.
