This episode is about the birds and the bees with a report on the surprise arrival of a pair of bee-eaters in County Durham. These beautiful birds prefer warmer climates and hadn't bred in Britain since 1955. But last year they were swept north by gales and hatched their chicks here, to the delight of bird lovers around Britain who queued up to get a glimpse of them. They were captured on video catching bees - they remove the sting before eating them.
Fallow deer are shy creatures but one place where they're relatively tame is Whitworth Hall, a luxury hotel near Spennymoor. Kim meets bar manager Jim Stothard who looks after them. He says: 'We stage a lot of wedding receptions here and it makes an unusual picture having the bride and groom and a herd of deer.'
Teesdale enthusiast John Wood who has spent the last 25 years keeping records of pied flycatchers. John tracks the movements of these small birds who travel all the way from Africa to breed in Britain.
