Summary An edition of the Tyne Tees Television rural life programme Up Country presented by Jessica Holm. This edition begins in possibly one of Yorkshire's smallest nature reserves at Throstle Nest near Bishop Thornton where the junior section of the Harrogate & District Naturalist Society has worked with local farmer Tony Stobbs to create a reserve with a wide diversity of habitats that supports and amazing variety of wildlife. Following the break, Jessica joins English Nature Warden Phil Davey on Holy Island or Lindisfarne to see some of the wildflowers, birds and animals which he looks after on this 10,000-acre site. Jessica then looks at the education work being carried out by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds firstly at Marsdon Rock near South Shields and them at Bempton Cliffs near Flamborough Head in North Yorkshire where a quarter-of-a-million seabirds nest each year. |
