Summary An edition of the Tyne Tees Television rural life programme Up Country presented by Jessica Holm. In the first report from Beadnell Bay on the Northumberland coast the Marine Conservation Society is launching a new project entitled 'Sea Search' which aims to map the coastal waters of Britain. The tidal mudflats around Seal Sands on the Tees Estuary are home to a colony of seals, and then next report looks at a new scientific study looking at their comeback after year of pollution. After the break, Jessica meets Jim Chaytor the former lighthouse keeper at Souter Lighthouse near Sunderland who has taken on a new role as custodian for its new owners the National Trust. Finally, Jessica takes a special trip to Coquet Island off the coast near Amble which is a protected seabird reserve looked after by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. |
