This is a detailed amateur film of various climbing activities of a Sheffield club who go around England finding new rock faces to scale.
The film opens showing a man climbing up a cliff face. Quick inset of good colour film showing four men at the bottom of a cliff standing in foliage and looking upwards, before the film reverts back to showing that man and other climbing, all magenta. Short shots show a kangaroo at the top of a grassy summit! (No idea where or how.) Short magenta snip-it of men before reverting back to Kodachrome of kangaroo. Back to showing the on another climb. Various shots of the men climbing can see the landscape in the distance, various long panning shots of men as they each climb up to the summit.
The film then cuts back to a Kodachrome sequence where we see a long panning shot of a large cliff. The group of climbers then proceed to climb up it. It is very craggy and not as sheer as the last cliff. The camera follows them as they climb on a sunny day grasping at different rocks to haul themselves up. The rocks jut in and out so sometimes they look like they are hanging mid-air from the rocks. This is quite a specific type of climbing as there is far more apparatus including a large object that they hoist up. A long shot shows one climber making his way underneath a part of the mountain that juts out, it looks like he has picks to help him move safely along. The sequence closes with a man at the top of the mountain pulling up a rope and a long shot of the face that they have just climbed.
The final sequence shows the men on a trip to Cornwall where they are going to climb various ones along the coastline. Again this sequence is going magenta. There are long shots of the cliffs, waves and the men starting their assent. Closer shots then show the men as they climb up with no equipment other than guide ropes. They use their hands and feet to slowly hoist themselves upwards. One man climbs up and then greets to other men who have already reached the summit. The film continues to show them negotiate other parts of the cliffs, the faces are different, some much smoother than others. Waves crash against the rocks below as they continue to climb up. The film closes showing a man continuing to climb up a rock face.
