This film was taken during a Sheffield climbing group’s trips to Derbyshire and Wales.
The film opens showing a man climbing up a rock face and shows him reaching the top. Back at the bottom we see a fairly young teenager start to climb up. He has a large rope tied around him, and he carefully starts to climb carefully. From below we see him climbing up before the camera cuts to show him reach the top, where another climber hold a rope to make sure that he gets up safely. We then see a group of them standing around chatting with their climbing gear and ropes around them.
Another climb takes place and we see a man going up another face of the crag. Another man climbs up and meets the other climber at the summit. Another day and it is bright and sunny and two men set off again, this time there are young men and women climbing together. Different shot angles show them make their way up, carefully gripping to the rocks and stopping on safe ledges before carrying on.
The film cuts to show a shallow ravine where a rope has been set up, a man clings onto it and slowly makes his way across, sometimes bobbing into the water before he gets to the other side. The film then turns to magenta, where we can see more climbing up a rock face. The film then cuts back to better quality footage where we see a group of men walk through a rocky area carrying an injured man on a stretcher. They slowly have to make their way through the rocks before they then reach the edge of a cliff where they then have to negotiate getting him safely down the sloped cliff. Men at the top hold with ropes whilst another man holds the end of the stretcher that is going down and guides it to the bottom.
There are then views of the men going on a walk before they get to another cliff and mount another climb. Again the filmmaker climbs up himself before stopping to show his colleague making his way up. The camera pans up and around until he reaches the top. The film closes with a long shot of two other men halfway up a cliff face.
