Summary An edition of the Tyne Tees Television rural life programme Up Country presented by Jessica Holm. In this edition William Moult goes clay pigeon shooting with actor Tim Healy and his brother John at the Bywell Shooting Ground in Northumberland which is followed by a report on Gordon Hodgson from Walton near Morpeth who is keeping the traditional skills of hedgerows maintenance alive. Following the break, a trip to Beamish Museum in County Durham where cheesemaker Peter Sampson is making cheese the way it was done at the turn of the 20th century. In the final report from Jarrow Slake along the River Tyne there is concerns that this important bird habitat could be under threat from the development of a new dock for oil rig. Dr Peter Evans explains why this and other mud and sand flats are important and why they need to be protected. |
