The first report in this edition comes from Newlands Mill at Hesket Newmarket in Cumbria. This family run mill produces 1000 tons of farm feed per week but generates high energy bills. Managing Director Ronnie Stobart has invested £130,000 in a windmill (turbine) from Danish company Vestra. It should pay for itself in 6 years producing 200Kwatts of electricity during 30 mile an hour winds. Any surplus electricity is bought back by the National Grid at 2p a unit. Day to day maintenance is carried out by Peter Stobart.
The second report looks at the renovation of Heatherslaw Cornmill at Cornhill-on-Tweed on River Till in Northumberland which has just opened to the public. Fergus Water, who is in charge of the site, shows Eric Robson around and talks about the history of the mill and the work that has been done since it was first bought in 1972. He also talks about the types of grinding the mill can do.

The second part of the programme comes from New Mills Trout Farm near Brampton in Cumbria. Interview with the owner Kay Gray who talks about how the business was started, how the farm is operated and issues of pollution. She sells the Trout from a shop on site but also sells wholesale to customers around the region. An order for Trout is put together by two employees of the farm and they are filmed catching, gutting and packaging the fish. The ideal weight for Trout is 12oz. They also make money from letting rights to fishermen.
