Title – Scotland 1961 Wester Ross.
The family gets into their car that already has a canoe strapped to the top. They set off along the road, and a tracking shot is taken as they go along. We see them progress into the countryside before they set up camp. Inside a large fairly open tent the mother makes some food over a stove. The film then cuts to show them visiting a telegraph office before there are views of the lochs and surrounding mountains. The mother and her children go for a walk in this countryside area occasionally stopping to pose for the camera.
Title – Seil Island
The car crosses over a stone bridge and heads towards its destination. Panning shots show the rocky coastline. The mother and children go and explore the area whilst father films. The campsite is shown, there are a couple of tents, and one appears to be for communal sitting and cooking. Interior scenes show the mother preparing food and then her and the children all sitting on the ground eating it.
The film then cuts to show them taking a boat ride. They pull up at a small fishing village and talk to a local man. Panning shots show the area the small houses and boats situated in the village. We then see the family go canoeing, the father getting into the boat with his son before heading out away from the shallow waters. Final views show the area at dusk, the waves crashing against the rocks as the father and son climb across him. The film closes showing a bagpiper playing.
