An amateur film produced by A McManus of members of the Lambretta Club Northumbria participating in three Lambretta rallies around both Scotland and England during 1958. Taking place at Dunbar, Cumnock and Blackpool each rally features members of the club competing against members of other clubs in various races all featuring their skills on their scooters. Everyone has fun at these events which are as much for entertainment and friendship as competition. Title: Lambretta Club Northumbria presents Title: Rallies 1958 Title: Dunbar A group of men and woman stand around in a field or showground waiting on the start of the rally. Around them other clubs with their members standing beside their scooters. Some in the group pass the time eating apples, other play around with one woman placing a red woollen hat over the head of her companion and pulling it down over his face, everyone laughs. The rally gets underway with one man driving carefully around a series of obstacles. Another man wearing a kilt and white armband follows besides, possibly judging his ride. A small boy in a crash helmet walks past followed by more races watched by a large crowd standing behind ropes. Events featured include an obstacle race, one involving two competitors, one riding the bike while the other uses a spiked poles to pop balloons. A third involves the rider having to stop partway across the field to change to front tyre. Members of the club stand together posing for the camera followed by more games, this time involving two competitors riding part way across the field before getting off and taking part in a wheelbarrow race. At the end of the rally a woman wearing a red and white hat presenting prizes, several silver trophies, and certificates to winning riders. Title: Cumnock A crowd watches as competitors on scooters compete in an obstacle cause and other races. Members of the Lambretta Club Northumbria sit on the scooters lined up in rows of three ready to drive around the showground, they drive past. More games taking place on the showground including one where scooters driving around in a circle before the passengers jump off quickly and race to the centre to retrieve a flag before their competitors. On a beach, possibly at nearby Ayr, members of the club sit relaxing in the sand chatting. Some in bathing costumes jump up and rush into the sea splashing around happily. Back on the sand they dry off followed by each member of the group appearing to crawl inside a small tent. With everyone apparently inside the tent begins to walk away across the beach, the three people actually inside falling out laughing on the sand. Title: Blackpool Competitors on their scooters take part in a go-slow race along the promenade at Blackpool trying not to fall off their scooters. Members of club go for a walk along the promenade followed by another competition, this time an obstacle race that requires riders to get off their scooters and take apart and put back together a barrier. A smaller crowd watches from the pavement, one man falls of his scooter. Many of those in the Lambretta Club Northumbria appear to be wearing red and white bobbled hats. The even over riders, some wearing sashes, drive along the promenade. Title: The End
