Title -Narrow Gauge Railways of Wales August 1966
The film opens with a close up of a steam engine stationary by a platform. People are then seen walking around a building with a sign that reads, 'Festiniog Railway harbour station'. The steam train then drives past the camera several times and there are brief glimpses of the driver. Shots show passengers crowded aboard the train and the filmmaker captures the journey from a carriage; the train travels through the oblique countryside, passing small cottages, animals in fields, rivers and roads. It then pulls into the station; the platform is packed with people who board the train before it sets off again.
Passengers lean out of the windows, or over the sides of the roofless carriages, looking out at the pastoral scenery. The film then cuts to Talyllyn Railway Wharf Station, where another journey begins as the train pulls out and makes its way through the valleys. At another train station, the filmmaker captures close ups of the platform signs that read, 'Abercynolwyn'.
After another brief journey, which contains shots of passengers enjoying the ride and other trains passing, the train pulls into another station, where men in overalls work on an engine whilst a large crowd of visitors watch. Various close ups show the mechanics steaming through their work and parts of the engines anatomy.
The film's final sequence shows exterior views of steam trains moving through the valleys. Initially, the filmmaker captures the train departing from the station from a level crossing, where many vehicles can be seen waiting. There is the a close up of a sign the reads, '680ft above sea level - Devils Bridge', and the following scene captures a train moving through a steep valley shrouded by tree's on either side, ejecting a thick cloud of black smoke.
The final shots show the train pulling into the station from a raised overpass above the tracks, and the doors open on each side of the carriages as passengers spill out.
