A production of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ put on by the Whitley Bay Pantomime Society as part of their 40th anniversary taking place at the Playhouse Whitley Bay in 2004 staring Lindsey Fenn as ‘Goldilocks’, Neville Wanless as the ‘Baron’ and Joan Purves as the ‘Fairy Kindheart’. The three bears are played by Samantha Lovell, Julie Cockburn and Dayle McLeod / Victoria Southwell.

The curtain goes up and the first of several song and dance routines in this productions begins. Rowland Maughan as ‘Silly Billy’ comes onto the stage via the auditorium and speaks with the audience. He is joined by ‘Goldilocks’ and other members of the cast and leads the audience to sing and dance to a nursery rhyme. The production continues with Roland coming onto the stage again with his long-time comedy partner Len Hayden who is playing the ‘Ringmaster’. The first half of the production comes to an end and the curtain falls.

The curtain rises again for another dance routine, the performance continues and features a man riding a unicycle. The performance ends on a song with flags being waved.
As the curtain closes Rowland Maughan comes out and addresses the audience and to thank some of those behind the scenes who have worked on the production. Len Hayden comes out to join Rowland and together they acknowledge some of the parties or groups in that night. A girl walks up on stage standing next to Roland. She is followed by fourteen other birthday boys and girls who join Rowland and Len in singing ‘Fast Food Rockers’. Each of them is asked their names, where they had come from and what the got for Christmas. The ‘Fairy Kindheart’ hands out goody-bags as the children leave the stage.
The lights go down as dancers come onto the stage to perform a final routine after which the full cast comes out to take a bow. Rowland Maughan comes forward to address the audience after which the full cast sing another song with balloons being released as the curtain goes up and down several times. Rowland comes forward again to thanks some of the cast and behind the scenes members for their work, bouquets are presented. The society Chairman Raymond Hammond comes onto the stage to present a gift to Rowland. Raymond then introduces the societies President Jim Graham comes out to speak with the audience and to thank them for coming. Everyone stands to sing the National Anthem and the curtain comes down on another performance and people begin to make their way home.
