On stage the curtain has been raised and the ‘Fairy’ and ‘Davy Jones’ coming out to address the audience. The lights go down again before quickly coming back up to reveal a stage set and the first of several song and dance routines of this production. In a sailor’s costume Rowland Maughan comes out onto the stage and addresses the audience, two women, possibly cast members part of a comedy sketch, wonders along the front row attempting to find a seat that has already been assigned. Rowland tells them they have the wrong day and wrong performance, the women leave. The production continues, the first half ending with a dance performance by a group of young girls.
Title: Robinson Crusoe Part Two
The production continues with a dance sequence featuring a group of ‘blacked up’ performers and Rowland Maughan wearing a leopard skin Tarzan outfit. Roland features in a comedy sketch involving the papering of a brick wall. He also wonders out into the auditorium to dance along with one of the audience to ‘Songs of the Sea’.
The performance ends and Rowland Maughan comes back out onto the stage with a mop. He them acknowledges some of the parties or groups in the audience and to thank some of the people involved behind the scenes. Nine birthday boys and girls come onto the stage to speak with Rowland and to sing along with him to a nautical song accompanied by the audience. The children are given goodie-bags by the ‘Fairy’ as they leave the stage, Roland continues to sing along with both the audience and the ‘Fairy’.
The two of them leave the stage for a final dance number of the production after which the full cast come out to take a bow. Rowland Maughan comes forward to thank everyone for coming followed by the cast singing a final song with the audience clapping along. The curtain comes down for the final time as people begin to leave.
