A production of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ put on by the Whitley Bay Pantomime Society and taking place at the Playhouse Whitley Bay. A darkened auditorium and stage with music coming from the orchestra pit. The curtain is raised to reveal a decoctive stage and a chorus performing the opening song and dance routine. The production continues with a several more song and dance routines featuring performers of various ages as well as comedy sequences often featuring Rowland Maughan as ‘Silly Billy’ and Len Hayden as the ‘Ring Master’.
The production comes to an end and the curtain comes down. Rowland Maughan comes back out to speak to the audience about the Leukaemia charity the society is supporting and to acknowledge some of the groups in the audience. He then begins a sing-along with some of the younger members of the audience of ‘The Bears Came Over the Mountain’. Several birthday boys and girls are invited onto the stage, they begin singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to everyone. He then chats with the children asking them what they got for Christmas. The children are given gifts as they leave the stage, Rowland is joined by a woman dressed as a clown and they begin to sing ‘The Bears Came Over the Mountain’ again. The song ends and he leaves the stage.
The curtain is raised once more for a final dance number after which the full cast come out to take a bow to the audience. The curtain comes down but goes up again so that Rowland can comes forward to thank some of the cast as well as some of those behind the scenes for their work The societies Chairman Raymond Hammond comes onto the stage to thank Rowland for his work presenting him with a gift. The production ends with everyone singing the National Anthem.
