Another static view of a map shows a place named Col des Mosses, a mountain pass in the western Bernese Alps of Switzerland.
A view is taken from an overhead cable car as it ascends a mountain. A brief view follows of joints of meat roasting over an open fire, which cuts to a lakeside footpath.
Several people gather around an outside table and smile at the camera. A view follows of the lake.
A cook pours some wine over the roasting joints of meat that were briefly seen earlier. The film cuts to holidaymakers walking up a footpath towards the camera. The film cuts to a man walking down the lakeside path carrying a fishing rod. He proudly shows off a small fish he has caught.
A group of girls sit on the lakeside path enjoying the sunshine and smiling at the camera. Others sit on a nearby grassy bank and take refreshments.
A group of people sit on the open flatbed of a small truck. A travelling view follows of spectacular scenery from a mountain road or cable car.
Another static view of a map shows the location of Leysin, an alpine resort village at the eastern end of Lake Geneva.
A view follows of two people at a post box outside a local post office. Above the post box a notice reads ‘Poste Telephone, Telegraphe Leysin2 Village’
The film cuts to the visitors looking at the stalls of an open street market. Views of an old church and other buildings follow. One of the chalets is adorned with flowering plants.
The holidaymakers have refreshments at a local café, one eats a large helping of ice cream. A spectacular view can be seen from the terrace where they sit. More general views of the verdant mountainsides follow then the film cuts back to the café terrace.
A notice reads ‘Telepherique Du Glacier Des Diablerets’ This cable car takes visitors to a glacier situated near the summit of Les Diablerets. The visitors wait in groups outside the cable car station. The film shows the cars coming and going overhead.
Outside the station all the small groups gather for a photograph. The next sequence shows views of the cable car station the visitors car begins its ascent from the station. Views of the station car park show where the coach is parked; its image diminishes as the cable car climbs higher.
Views follow of snow-covered peaks; the visitors must change cars to continue their journey. They traverse the glacier, looking down on the expanse of ice. A view is taken at a nearby open ski lift, with views of people walking on the snow-covered slopes below. A change of view shows two people sledding down one of the slopes, then walking back up the steep slope pulling their sledge behind them.
The film cuts back to the chalet seen earlier in the film, where the visitors sunbathe. The film then moves on to views of mountain peaks in sunshine while the foreground is quite dark.
Another change of scene as the visitors lay on towels placed on the grass for more sun bathing.
On one of the chalet verandas shoes dry out in the sunshine, and the guide’s trefoil emblem flies from a wooden pole. More views follow of the sunbathing visitors.
Next the guides appear in uniform outside the chalet. A senior guide gives awards to some of the younger guides, they then return to the chalet.
A group of guides pose for the camera just in front of the chalet, the film then moves on to a view of trees and mountains. A covered bridge sits precariously positioned between two outcrops of rock, nearby is a small waterfall.
A change of view as some of the group stand on opposite sides of a modern road bridge. Nearby the tour coach is parked and the sightseers make their way back to the coach.
Another simpler map shows Switzerland’s capital city of Bern, the town of Gruyeres and the nearby city of Zurich.
The film shows a picture display showing renditions of cows and other animals, it seems to celebrate local farming.
The visitors walk up a street Gruyeres. The streets are lined with picturesque shops and other buildings, including a view of Le Chalet a famous restaurant in the town.
Next a view of a display board showing the opening times to Chillon Castle an island castle located on Lake Geneva. The visitors enter through a turnstile and a brief description of the castle appears as a static image on film.
Views follow of various parts of the castle as the visiting guides make their way around. Views shows the exterior of the castle surrounded by the waters of Lake Geneva. Some scale models on display in the castle give an easy assessment of its structure.
General views show the visitors relaxing and talking next to a wall with Lake Geneva in the background. Another view of the castle taken from the roadside shows twin towers each with a conical roof.
A roadside sign reads: ‘Col de la Croix 1778m’. The Col de la Croix is another alpine pass.
General views show snow covered mountains and fir trees, and local wildflowers.
The visitors find some hillside routes through grass and trees. More general views show hillside forests and wildflowers.
A brief view shows a car driving down a bank, a squirrel is spotted in a tree leaping from branch to branch.
The film cuts to an electric tram car travelling on rails along one of the local roads.
Views follow of steep tree covered mountains surrounding a village. The view is taken from the tram station where the visitors have gathered.
Cars and the visitors coach go through a border control and customs point, as they enter France.
The film shows the coat of arms of the Alsace region of France, which is attached to a building.
Views of the visitors having moved on to walk a city street in Paris. The visitors take photographs of each other near the ‘Arc de Triomphe’. Close ups follow of the sculptures which adorn the grand arch.
General views show the traffic that flows through this area of Paris. A close-up view shows a floral tribute which rests on a war memorial to those who fell in the first world war. Close views follow of the underside of the arch of the Arc de Triomphe
A close-up view follows of one of the eternal flames at the memorial.
The film then moves on to the Eiffel Tower and the Place du Trocadero. The visitors find market stalls in another part of the capital.
Queues of visitors wait at the ticket office at the base of the Eiffel Tower. The holidaymakers by drinks from a mobile refreshment vehicle.
The film shows a view of the upper stages and metalwork of the Eiffel Tower from below. A lift makes an ascent to one of the upper stages.
A change of view shows an old vintage car attracting the attention of visitors. A view from the tour coach shows it crossing a bridge over the Seine, followed by a view of the Arc de Triomphe from a traffic queue.
At the ferry crossing luggage is removed and placed onto mobile containers.
A view from the ferry shows it leaving the quayside, followed by a view of the wash from the rear of the vessel as it makes its way to open sea. At sea, a view from the holidaymaker’s ferry shows a Townsend Thoresen ferry also making the channel crossing. This is followed by a view of the white cliffs of England and home with the film ending with a view of a sunset.
