Guides and Brownies East Riding division spend some time at Paxwold training centre and hostel, enjoying activities in the guides centre and nearby.
The Paxwold centre is on the outskirts of the village of Goodmanham, near Market Weighton.
The film opens with a group of girls waiting at a roadside with cars are parked nearby. Some of the girls wave at the camera.
A coach approaches the camera and stops, a group of girls dressed in Brownie uniforms gets off the coach and they walk past the camera.
The Brownies gather in a large circle and stand with raised arms holding hands. One of them stands in the middle of the circle as part of a game.
The film shows an emblem on the outside wall of the Guides hostel which shows a wreath of what maybe laurel leaves surrounding a clover leaf. The top leaf has a star modelled in relief. The two left and right leaves have the letter ‘G’ modelled in relief.
A woman sits in a deck chair while one of the young Brownies sits on her knee to talk to her.
A group of younger Brownies gather in front of what appears a church doorway and pose for the camera.
A white cat in long grass revels in the attention it’s getting from some of the Brownies.
The girls gather in front of house, some have been picking wildflowers and they compare what they have found. Another group gather around or sit on stacked straw bales.
One of the senior supervisors starts a bonfire. A circle game is organised with a group of Guides and Brownies. Another game involves two rows of girls sitting on the grass while another runs down the centre of the two rows carefully avoiding stepping on legs.
The film then shows the Union Jack flag flying from a flagpole. Another game follows showing a group of guides throwing what appears to be a basketball to each other.
A view follows of Brownies gathered to together in front of the hostel, carrying a variety of bags. They all head to a waiting coach and get on board.
The film cuts to guides making a macrame item using wool or some other thread. A chair is used to support the thread while they work.
In a sheltered space near the entrance to the hostel girls use lit candles to heat the base of a plate. The following view shows the table they are working at but it is quite dark so details are obscured of what they are making. Others continue with their woven creation using a chair.
On sheets of white paper flowers, leaves and other found items are displayed. The film ends with one of the girls wearing an item she has fashioned using macrame.
