This film of the girl guides Jubilee Rally at Dalton Hall in Beverley, Yorkshire, celebrates 50 years of Girl Guiding in the presence of Lady Olave Baden-Powell.
The opening of the film shows a smiling Lady Olave Baden-Powell looking at the camera, then speaking to some senior guides.
A temporary AA (Automobile Association) road sign reads ‘Girl Guide Rally)
A notice printed on white paper is placed on the grass advertising the jubilee rally.

The film moves to a man and a woman standing outside the entrance to a marquee, above which are two labels one reads, ‘Treasurer’ the other ‘Secretary’.
Guides and visitors gather in the grounds of the hall for the jubilee. Some of the guides carry banners and flags. Balloons are released and soar skyward. More views follow of the guides as they ready themselves for the celebrations.
An open arena has been cordoned off where spectators are gathering, Dalton Hall.

General views follow of the hall grounds, guides and visitors. Brownies are also involved in the celebrations.
The brownies and guides prepare for a parade. Some of the brownies carry home-made hobby horses. A group of guides stand ready with union jack flags. Brownies carry pendants showing to which troop they belong. One reads ’14th Bridlington’ another ‘1st Hunmanby’ another reads ‘44th Hull (Brunswick Methodist)’
A senior guide gives instruction to those carrying flags. Individual guides smile at the camera. A grand parade begins with guides in line, carrying flags. One line carries union jacks, another line carries other flags, some displaying the trefoil insignia of the girl guide movement.
A close view of one of the guides shirt sleeves shows an array of awards in the form of cloth badges.
A member of the sea rangers, a branch of guiding, takes a photograph of the lines of guides. The next view shows the parade lines just in front of the façade of Dalton Hall, they then march past the camera.
Lady Baden-Powell appears on camera again standing next to a senior guide and then again with one of the guides carrying the guides standard.

The standard bearers approach the camera. Lady Baden-Powell walks past the guides watching the spectacle and she salutes. The guides watching her pass take photographs.
The standard bearers pass the camera and Lady Baden-Powell and her entourage follow on behind. Guides carry union jacks and the guides emblem. Lady Baden-Powell shakes hands with some of the senior guides. More views show the guides following on behind.
The parade crosses a field which is cordoned off by a rope barrier, where spectators watch.
Lady Baden-Powell and other officials gather on a covered platform, Lady Baden-Powell watches the union flag and emblem carriers from the platform.
A view follows of Lady Baden-Powell and the VIP’s watching the parades and tableaux from the platform seats.
A group of girls in costume perform a dance on the field. Lady Baden-Powell and the others clap enthusiastically.
Brownies perform using large hoops. More views follow on the platform. Performers seen earlier in costume run onto the field again. They form a large ring and dance round an individual who lies under a large toadstool.
Family members and other visitors watch the entertainment from behind the rope barrier. A closer view of the spectators follows.
Brownies run on to the field with hobby horses. Another group in what appears to be fancy dress runs onto the field. A group in costume followed by brownies in uniform run past.
On the field a smaller group wearing straw boater hats and a costume which appears to be from the Edwardian era approaches the camera. They sit down on the grass, most of them study a book they are carrying, one attends to some sewing.
A group of scouts pushing a small trolley bring a large board onto the field, The Edwardians run towards it and seem very enthusiastic about what is written on it. It seems to be a large book as it is opened to shows text [not legible]
Another group dressed in green with red hats and carrying walking staffs appear on the field. The film cuts to others practicing what appears to be semaphore, using flags to communicate.
Another group enter field wearing large, brimmed hats and dressed in black, each carrying a stick. Others wearing similar outfits follow orders from a senior guide standing in front of them. These displays may represent uniforms from other parts of the world or historic uniforms. The senior guide marches to the head of the groups and they march across the field.
A general view follows of brownies watching events from the field’s perimeter. The film cuts back to the officials watching from the platform.
On the field a group of guides get involved in building a fire and erecting a tent. Next a group of sea rangers, bring a facsimile of a boat onto the field, named the SRS Shackleton.
The fire built with bricks heats a pan placed on top. Scouts and sea rangers watch with interest.
A sail is placed in a small dinghy which has been brought onto the field.
From the platform the view show guides gathering around a long pole placed in yj ground, followed by more general views of the VIPs on the platform.
A union jack flies from a flagpole, the flag is taken down by the guides. Two guides carefully fold the flag.
The film moves on to a large sign with ‘Girl Guides’ written on it along with a picture of a house, just above the writing.
Several guides march on to the field, at the head of one section a banner reads; ‘Home Maker’ another section leader carries a banner for ‘Laundress’, the next ‘Needlework’ and finally ‘Cooks’
Next some girl guides sit some young children around a small table,and wash their hands with a flannel.
The film moves on briefly to a woman leading a choir of guides in song.
The film cuts to what appears to be a facsimile of a fire engine ‘driving’ onto the field.
The film shows a young person on a stretcher covered in a blanket, while being attended to by guides acting as nurses.
Fire rescuers attend to an emergency in a home-made house.
The film changes to a group of guides and others in costume marching past the camera. The all stand in lines like the spokes of a wheel and link arms then each ‘spoke’ moves together in the same direction with the others. Other groups parade in other parts of the field.
The film goes back to the platform where Lady Baden–Powell and the others are enjoying the show. They leave the platform and makes their way onto the field. With the aid of a microphone Lady Baden-Powell speaks to everyone at the gathering.
The film cuts to brownies in the crowd getting very excited and jumping up and down. Lady Baden-Powell speaks from a podium to the excited crowd.
The film changes to the three guides carrying the standard as seen earlier. Lady Baden-Powell and the senior guide, speak to some individuals in the crowd.
Just outside the door at Dalton Hall Lady Baden-Powell smiles and waves to the jubilee gathering.
A close view of the senior guide and a close up of the standard, ends the film.
