This film shows the opening of a Girl Guide’s hut at Skidby Camp site by the Lord Mayor of Hull. The film opens showing Skidby windmill tower and the sail mechanism at the top. Title: 14 May 1955 Skidby Camp Site Opening Ceremony By The Lord Mayor of Hull Two senior Guides appear on camera, one of them speaks with a senior scout member. The Mayor of Hull and his wife pose for the camera alongside the senior Guides seen earlier. The Mayor, his wife and the senior Guides walk in a field between two rows of Guides standing to attention. The Guides follow on behind the mayoral party. Others waiting for the official opening, stand or sit outside the hut. The mayor meets with some of them. With everyone seated just in front of the wooden hut a senior Guide addresses the mayor and the other guests. The camera shows some of the other guests who are seated nearby. The senior Guide continues her address. More views of others who are seated or standing, including many Guides. The Mayor then stands to give his address then he opens the locked hut with a key and walks in. Outside a vicar reads from notes which maybe prayers and/or a blessing. The film finishes showing a flag with the scouting emblem flying from a pole.
