Title: Wedding of Clare and Robert at St Michaels of All Saints Church Barningham on Saturday 10th August 2002
Outside the gates of the church two well-dressed women both holding up umbrellas from rain. The groom and best man in morning suits arrive and head into the church, they are followed by a photographer. A woman adjusts the placement of an olive bush placed at the churchyard entrance. More guests arrive and woman holds a baby in her arms chatting with those around her. Guests head into the churchyard making their way along a gravel path.
A white Mercedes limousine pulls up outside the church, the drive holds opens the passenger door as three bridesmaids step out. A vintage car pulls up, inside the bride and her father. They both look out from the car at the pouring rain. An umbrella is raised by the drive who escorts them as they make their way through the churchyard, the bride wearing a distinct red top with golden skirt.
Inside the church organ music plays as the bride, her father and bridesmaids enter making their way down the aisle. The vicar of the parish leads the marriage ceremony starting with an introduction and hymn before by the declaration and the exchange of vows and rings. A female singer accompanied by a man on guitar performs a song for the couple. The music over the couple makes their way to the high-alter for a blessing by a female curate as well as the vicar. A second hymn is sung by the congregation followed by the couple, vicar and witnesses sign the marriage registers and certificates.
The ceremony over the happy couple makes their way along the aisle out of the church followed by other members of the wedding party, family, and guests. Outside in the doorway the wedding party poses for official photographs. The couple speak with their guests as they leave the churchyard before exiting themselves onto the street and being showered in confetti. More photographs are taken as family and friends stand around chatting. The couple get into their car, inside they kiss for the camera. The car drives away.
A wooden sign for ‘Jersey Farm Hotel and Restaurant’. In the garden of the hotel more photographs are taken while guest and the happy couple laugh and chat over drinks.
The bride and her guests make their way inside the restaurant where people stand around a bar area chatting over drinks. In a dining room tables have been laid out with lien and candles. In front of the top-table a smaller one on which sits a three-tiered wedding cake. The bride and groom greet their guests as they make their way into the dining room.
With the wedding party now seated at their tables, a member of hotel staff makes some notices before announcing the happy couple who make their way to the top-table. Grace is given by the vicar before everyone begins to enjoy the wedding feast. Their guests watch as the couple cut the wedding cake before slices are distributed around the room. Following the food speeches are made about beginning with the bride’s brother who uses a series of cartoon images to help illustrate what he is saying. The groom speaks next passing out gifts to some of his guests followed by best man.
Back in the bar area the happy couple receive gifts from family and friends. On the dancefloor the couple have the first-dance, they are joined by other couples while other guests sit around tables watching. More people come onto the dancefloor to dance to the music.
