A modern detached house, inside two small girls in white bridesmaid’s dresses sit on a sofa. A young woman sits between them on the sofa, sitting on the floor a small boy wearing a morning suit and top hat. Photographs are taken of the group.
Upstairs in a bedroom a bridesmaid helps the bride with her veil. They both come downstairs into the living room where her father, wearing a morning suit, kisses her on the cheek. Beside them the bride’s mother in a white dress. Everyone poses for photographs on the sofa.
Guests arrive at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church making their way inside. All the bridesmaids pose for photographs outside the church as a Rolls Royce arrives. The bride’s mother gets out of the car with the page-boy and head into the church.
Back at the family home a female chauffeur comes to the front door and holds the bride’s bouquet and dress train as she and her father make their way to the Rolls Royce. The bride is helped into the vehicle, they depart. Phantom car ride through Billingham to the church where the bride and her father get out of the vehicle making their way into the church along with the rest of the wedding party.
Inside the church guests stand as the bride and her father make their way along the aisle to the altar where the groom is waiting. The priest begins the marriage ceremony starting with an introduction and hymn with accompanying music provided by musicians sitting to the side of the church playing guitar and violin. The priest leads the couple and congregation in pray followed by the declaration and the exchange of vows and rings.
At a table to the side of the church the priest helps the couple sign the marriage registers and certificates watched by family and friends. After a final hymn the happy couple leave the church followed by family and friends. Outside guest stand around chatting or having a cigarette while inside the church the couple and their wedding party pose for photographs beside the altar. Outside more photographs of the couple with their son under a willow tree.
On Low Grange Avenue guests make their way towards to waiting buses while the happy couple get into the Rolls Royce, the groom brushing off confetti. Inside the car the couple smile at the camera before it is drives away.
A large sign for the ‘Billingham Constitutional Club’ on Wolviston Road. Inside guests sit along the backwall drinking and chatting, a woman stokes the head of her sleeping child.
The bride and groom along with their respective families sit along the top table set up beside a stage, their guests sit at tables around the dancefloor. A three-tiered wedding cake sits on a small table. Guests continue to sit chatting happily over drinks.
On a raised area in the club several tables have been set up with food including cheese and biscuits, prawn cocktail, sandwiches and sausage rolls as well as two steaming serving plates of chips. The bride and groom lead the wedding guests in serving themselves the first helping of food. A queue forms of guests helping themselves to the buffet, others preferring to remain at their tables talking.
Several small children are being posed on a set of steps by the bride’s mother while a man and one of the bridesmaids go around the room offing glasses of Champagne to the guests.
The best man makes his speech ending it with a toast. The bride’s father stands and makes a speech followed by the groom. Gifts are presented to the bridesmaids as well to others who have helped in preparing for this day. The grooms father says a few words after which the disco begins with the couple having their first dance. Guests come over to take photographs.
The dance over the couple return to their seats followed by them cutting their wedding cake. The couple wonder around the club speaking with those seated at tables. The lights are dimmed, and the bride presents a bouquet to her mother as thanks for all her support. Everyone continues to sit at their tables chatting as the bridesmaids go around handing out pieces of wedding cake as the children run and play around on the dancefloor.
