Title: Lord McGowan Opens Wilton Works
A car drives past a row of parked vehicles changes to a group of men, the Directors of Imperial Chemicals Industry (ICI), standing outside the entrance of an office block. As they head inside, they walk past a sign erected near the entrance that reads ‘P.F. Plant’.
A brief view inside the phenol formaldehyde plant changes to show the visiting party exiting the building headed by Lord McGowan. They stand in the entranceway chatting, some smoking cigarettes or pipes.
Beside a marquee a small crowd of men gather behind a rope barrier as Lord McGowan approaches and plants a commemorative tree. He shovels two spade loads of sand into the hole watched by a large crowd who applaud him when he finishes.
Two microphones are brought forward, and Lord McGowan makes a speech. Behind the watching crowd several film cameras recording the visit. Again, the crowd applauds as he concludes his speech walking away. As the visiting part leave, a commemorative plaque is placed in the ground beside the tree that reads:
Title: This tree was planted by the Rt. Hon. Lord McGowan K.B.E. D.C. L.L.D. on 14th September 1949 to commemorate the opening of the Wilton Works
