At Dover cars drive onto a British Rail Seaspeed hovercraft, passengers take their seats as it departs for the Continent. It is raining as the hovercraft approaches its destination pulling on to a beach.
A family car waits to exit the hovercraft changes to Joanna and Richard Forsyth walking around a French town past a church or cathedral with a large stained-glass window. Another boy is accompanying them. The three of them sit at a table inside a VW Campervan writing letters or postcards. General views of a campsite.
Cars drive onto a ferry docked at a harbour; passengers look down from the deck above. Richard looks down on a small crowd standing along the quayside as the ferry pulls away and departs. Passengers sit on benches enjoying the sun as the ship travels along a wide river, Joanna, Richard and the second boy sit nearby.
On a beach Richard and the other boy go swimming and playing in the sea, Joanna sits on the empty sand nearby. The boys throw stones into the water. At a campsite the other boy rides a bicycles, Richard follows him. On the beach a group of children play with a ball, back at the campsite a Joanna in a bikini. On the beach again Joanna in a bathing suit and the boys playing nearby.
Sitting in the back of the campervan Joanna cuts a fruit flan into slices. Richard hammers in a peg for a tent he and the other boy are putting up next to the campervan. Joanna and the boys walks around a rural French town that has a church with spire. They look out across house roofs from a town wall.
Outside the entrance to a chateau crowds of visitors changes to a road sign for the Grotte de Font de Gaume. The three of them wonder around the prehistoric site.
Beside a busy road the three of them play badminton, they stroke a kitten which has wondered past the tent in which the two boys are laying. Richard inflates a rubber dinghy and paddles in it river o, the other boy joins him in the dinghy before jumping into the water. The two boys have fun.
A visit to Gouffre de Padirac with the two boys looking down at the camera from a walkway. From the entrance to the site the three of them look down into the cave from a fence.
At another campsite the two boy erect a tent, behind them buildings are built into the hillside. Joanna stands inflating a lilo. The three of them walk through a town, they pass a small colourful kiosk with writing across the top reading ‘Ascenseur Billets’. They climb steps towards a church, come out of said church walking back down a different set of steps, They walk around the battlements of a castle, a flag flies above them. They look out across the rural landscape and river below. Two tall towers stand either side of a bridge crossing the river, the campervan is parked beside the river and Richard walks past a wear.
The two boys play a game of crazy-golf on a course, a couple sunbathe in the brown grass nearby as other swim in a river. Richard again paddles in the dingy on the river, Joanna lays sunbathing on the bank.
Joanna walks away from a woman standing in the doorway of a house holding a box. Rows of vines growing at a vineyard. Joanna and the boys sit at a table, she holds a glass of wine.
Back beside the river Joanna cuts the other boy’s hair before getting into the rubber dingy with Richard, they paddle away.
The three of them visit a castle built on a hill, they walk around the site. A couple behind a bar chats with the cameraman.
Under a marquee people walk past several stalls selling vegetables and other local produces.
The exterior of a chateau changes to a crewman on a small boat as it pulls away from a dock. The boat travels along a river.
The campervan is parked outside a local bar and restaurant. A man shakes Richard’s hand. Joanna wonders around a shop selling French Cognac.
The three of them sit over the edge of a footbridge crossing a small river. Joanna and Richard go swimming in the water.
Around a table the Joanna, Richard and the second boy enjoy tea and cakes, a man sits nearby talking with them. The man plays golf on a course changes to him and his wife sitting at a table for a meal with their guests. A bottle of wine is opened.
A queue stands at the base of the Eiffel Tower in Paris changes to views across the city from the elevator heading to the viewing area. From the top Joanna and the two boys look out across the city below.
Phantom bus ride through the Parisian street changes to Joanna and the boys walking towards the Notre-Dame de Paris. Inside visitors wonder around looking at the sites.
The film ends with cars driving onto a British Rail Seaspeed hovercraft.
