A home movie produced by John Angus Forsyth of the wedding of his eldest son Angus to Margaret Gilbertson on the 23rd July 1966, mainly focusing on the reception which takes place at The Cottage in the village of Castle Eden, not far from the family home in Sedgefield.
In the garden of the Forsyth family home in Sedgefield a group of children and adults sit around drinking and chatting. The children play as some of the adult’s smoke cigarettes. Two young men pour drinks for the children from a large jug. Two older men stand chatting on the lawn, they look over the colourful flowerbeds as the children continue to play in the background.
Joanna and John Forsyth step out of the front door of the family home, both are finely dressed. Outside a church wedding guests make their way inside changing to the reception at The Cottage in the village of Castle Eden with guests walk around the walled garden. The bride and groom arrive, they walk across the lawn and are posed for official photographs.
A large marquee has been erected nearby and some of the guests make their way inside, others stand around the garden chatting. Tables have been set up on a patio area and guests sit around them, two young women smile at the camera, around them guests continue to chat. A young woman takes photographs of the wedding, a couple with small boy poses for the camera. Guests continue to mingle chatting and hugging happily.
On the driveway of the house a man waves, possibly at and unseen car being driven away. Beside the marquee a drunk young man holds a champagne glass in his mouth. A man and older woman come over and she takes the glass from his mouth. Two small boys, one in a kilt, race across a lawned area. Guests continue to chat and watch as a Jaguar car drives away before turning and returning to wedding venue.
Outside the family home Angus and his new wife stand beside a Mini-Cooper car, a second young man stands beside them.
