In a field behind the family home in Sedgefield, Richard Forsyth walks past carrying a ladder. He swings from a rope-swing attached to a tree; his mother Joanna is pushing him.
On the patio area of a house Joanna and a second woman lay out food on a table. They and a few children enjoy a meal.
A ship is docked along a quayside, onboard three people look down at the camera. Looking down from the boat onto the quayside a large crowd is gathered and wave as the ship pulls away.
Along a country road in Ireland are parted several horse-and-traps are waiting on passengers to board before departing. Sitting on a bench beside a whitewashed building three people sit drinking tea while speaking with a local man.
A large crowd of St Andrews University students in red gowns make their way down onto a quayside in the town, Joanna and another woman walk towards and onto the quayside as some of the students are walking away. Views of the town from the quayside.
The Forsyth’s go for a walk climbing to the top of Roseberry Topping near Great Ayton. At the summit they sit around the rocks eating lunch. The film changes to show the group walking along a rocky riverbank towards a series of small waterfalls. Richard throws stones into the water. Richard sits in a rubber dinghy on the water, his mother holding a piece of rope preventing him from floating away.
The family walk around the grounds of a castle, possibly Alnwick Castle. In a garden Joanna and daughter Rosemary look at fish in a pond.
In the grounds of a school parents and children stand or sit behind a rope, the other side of the rope men with clipboard. A number of sprinting and a sack race take place. Inside a large marquee a seated crowd listens to a man speaking into a microphone before a boy in a striped jacket comes up to receive an award.
Joanna, Richard and sister Rosemary walk around the gardens of a large country house.
Outside a large building a group of students in gowns gather, many are holding certificates. Inside a graduation ceremony. Outside again Rosemary poses with her certificate beside her mother and another older woman.
Outside the Houses of Parliament in London a group of well-dressed wedding guests make their way inside for a reception taking place on a veranda overlooking the River Thames. Guest mill around chatting over glasses of Champagne, the bride walks past. Guests wave as the happy couple drive away in a Mini Cooper, other guest departs leaving the Palace of Westminster.
The Forsyth’s walk across a large lawn surrounded by buildings. Outside the CB Hotel at Arkengarthdale near Richmond the family with friends prepare to go for a walk. Richard and another boy stand beside a river, the group walk along a country road.
At a railway station a steam passenger train pulls into the platform. Against a wall Richard adjusts the straps on a satchel on the back of his bicycle. Joanna appears as a diesel passenger train arrives. Richard waves from the train as it departs.
A young man comes into the garden of the family home carrying a rucksack, behind him comes Rosemary Forsyth also wearing a rucksack. The two of them plus Richard walk around the garden. Richard takes a drink from a paper cup.
Joanna and another woman walk around the grounds of a large house, a small girl looks at finish in a pond.
The Forsyth’s sit around a table drinking and chatting possibly with other family or friends. Three boys, including Richard, race around the garden.
The family visiting an agricultural fair taking place in a field changes to a man being watched as he drives a petrol drive lawnmower around a lawn. The film ends outside the front of the family home and Angus waving from the doorway.
