A country lane changes to a family group standing outside a large country house and a small boy, Richard Forsyth, pumping a pop-gun which fires a small ball. Richard and a small girl play together on a large lawned area in front of the house, they are joined by a second boy and they all roll down a grassy bank. Richard rides a bicycle around the driveway.
A family group go for a walk through the countryside changes to show Joanna and a young man, Angus Forsyth, standing beside a car parked outside the Sedgefield family home. In the garden John Forsyth plays swing-tennis with son Richard.
Joanne, John and Richard walk around the garden with friends or family. A man is gardening, a girl helps him followed by children gathering around a woman.
Angus Forsyth and another young man stand in the doorway of a building, his mother and younger brother standing nearby. He opens a package and holds up a red shirt.
Joanna and Richard climb a snow-covered hill pulling a sledge, he slides down. Other people also make their way to the top of the hill so they can also go sledding, many passing at speed. In the distance Durham Cathedral. On a frozen pond a group including Joanna and Richard are skating on the ice. Beside a tree Richard builds an igloo followed by someone skiing across a field. Richard continues to build his igloo in the family garden.
The snow now gone Joanna, Richard and two others walk along a country lane. In a field a series of tic-tac stalls taking bets from the crowds, three women stand chatting.
In the field beside the family home Richard is throwing a large stick. He stands beside a wall with a young woman, possibly sister Rosemary. The young woman walks towards a number of parked cars, possibly out the front of the CB Hotel at Arkengarthdale near Richmond. A group of others appear and stand around talking. Joanna stands chatting with her daughter.
In a garden a group of friends watch as a man climbs a tree using metal stirrups with a metal ring which goes around the trunk. They watch as he saws a small branch before coming back down.
A large family group walk beside a fast-flowing river, an older man chats with Joanna and Angus while Richard plays with a large stick nearby. The group stand looking over a wall. Richard sits in a trailer attached to a motorized lawnmower and is driven around the lawn by the older man. Richard takes control of the lawnmower watched over by the older man. Inside the older man sits drinking tea with an older woman.
In the back garden of the family home at Sedgefield Richard and Angus saw a thick log, Richard goes over and kisses his mother. Angus does some gardening.
Joanna and Richard walk along a busy London street heading into Green Park Underground Station. They walk past fruit and vegetable stalls at Covent Garden and the fountains in Trafalgar Square. Pidgeon’s fly around them as they are fed seed, a crowd them watches with interest. They make their way along Whitehall past Horse Guards Parade stopping to look at the soldiers on horseback.
Joanna and Richard come out of a hotel and the film changes to them arriving at the gates of London Zoo. Inside they walk past monkeys in cages, and a female keeper walks past with a Gibbon. In the distance an elephant walking past.
Joanna stands chatting with friends or family beside a lawned area. They go for a walk through a wooded area.
Richard walks past the Langdon Beck Hotel at Forest-in-Teesdale followed by him and his mother walking through the Teesdale countryside.
The final part of the film shows families watching their sons take part in a school’s sports day. This includes boys taking part in events such as the long jump, a hurdles race and sprinting.
