At a railway station a passenger train waits to depart, in the near distance the guard climbs aboard. The train travels slowly through an industrial and urban area changing to woodland scenery passing a series of lakes. As the journey continues mountains appear in the distance, a small town beside a lake. The train passes a bridge under construction before approaching and crossing the Pattullo Bridge over the Fraser River near Vancouver. Water comes down the spillway of the Cleveland Dam.
A phantom car ride at night changes to San Francisco cable cars travelling along a series of streets in the city. A phantom ride from one of the cable cars as it travels down a hilly road. The car is turned on a turntable by the driver, back on board a second man goes through the carriage collecting fares. The cable car comes to a stop and more passengers climb onboard. Again, the car is turned on a turntable before heading away up a steep road.
An elevator built on the exterior of a skyscraper slowly descends. From the elevator now ascending the skyline of San Francisco with the Bay Bridge and Alcatraz Island in the distance. The elevator comes down again, in the distance the Coit Tower atop Telegraph Hill in the Russian Hills suburb of the city.
More cable cars travelling the streets of the city changes to the interior of a darkened building where one of the engines that power the cable car system is located.
At an aquarium a small porpoise in a pool. Along with a number of dolphins it performs for a watching crowd. In another pool several turtles and a seal sitting on the edge. A flaming hoop is pushed out into the pool through which a dolphin leaps.
Inside a football stadium a marching band performs a synchronised routine for the crowd’s. A team of American football players walk out onto the pitch. The game gets underway watched by a massive crowd sitting around the stadium with individuals getting to their feet as their team makes plays for the touch-line. Another band performs for the crowd and the film ends with the crowds rushing onto the pitch after the game.
