Lorries driving onto a ferry boat at an unknown harbour. Joanna, Angus and Richard coming down the gangplank from the vessel onto the quayside. Along a busy country road in France the family story for a picnic followed by the decorative exteriors of several churches.
The family set up tents at a campsite and after changing head down to the beach where Joanna and Richard play in the surf. Back at camp they relax in the shade of the tent reading.
Sitting outside a hairdresser cuts Richards hair followed by John and Angus. Angus and Richard splash around in the surf with a lilo watched by Joanna. A rural landscape returning to the beach where Angus rushes into the sea to catch the waves.
At an outdoor arena a small crowd watch a game of Basque Pelota being played. Fishing boat are moored in a harbour, on one boat the fishermen work together to unload their catch into a lorry by throwing each fish along a line of men until it reaches the lorry. A small crowd watches on. Joanna and her boys look out to sea from a promenade, around them fishermen. Nearby a box partly filled with caught fish.
Back on the beach Richard playing in child-sized inflatable dinghy. Angus in a canoe pulling Richard through the surf in his dinghy. Another game of Basque Pelota being played in a different arena changes to Angus and Richard paddling in the sea along a rocky beach. In the shade under canopy the family enjoys a picnic. Crowds on the sand or in the sea along a beach, the family again splashing about or sitting under cover eating.
Cars is a jam changes to show another beach full of striped umbrellas. From a promontory the sea and sandy beach below and in the distance. In a village two men work and machine possibly to produce rope.
Traffic and pedestrians in a busy town changes to a man leading a wagon being pulled by cattle along a country road. Joanna and Richard walk around a farm looking at some animals, they play a game of Basque Pelota against a wall.
A road sign reads ‘Camino De Santiago. Ibeneta. Capilla de Sa Salvador SXI’ followed by views down into a rural valley. In a town in the hills the family look down on the landscape below, Angus drinks wine from a bota bag.
A church and other historic buildings in a town followed by John carefully crossing part of a fast-flowing river by steppingstones.
The family visit a vineyard and are given a tour by a man wearing a beret. They are shown a storage area where barrels are kept. Outside writing etched above the doorway of the building reads ‘'Cooperative Vinicole de Bellocq'.
Views of a town followed by a procession of traditionally dressed musicians marching through the town making their way to a stadium. Angus and Joanna enjoy a glass of wine at a local café. Angus, Richard and Joanna dance around a Roman plinth placed near a country road. Back at the vineyard views of the vines and barrels in the storage area.
The family climb a set of stone steps towards a decorative church, at a local market Joanna and Richard carry a wooden box full of local produce. The film ends on the exterior of a large church or abbey and the family going inside.
