The film begins as the previous one ended with a children’s party with cake being served up onto plates and the children enjoying it.
Along a country road Joanna Forsyth and two other women lay out a blanket and have a picnic beside the car. Nearby her son Richard in a red jacket climbs a fence
Two people have their photograph taken in front of a white sheet, behind which is a cricket pitch and a game underway. The two people having their photos take try on different hats as they place their head onto a face-in-a-hole stand showing a couple sitting in a car with their arms around each other.
On a farm Richard climbs a ladder and looks on the roof of a shed or barn. A woman relaxes on a bed in a garden, nearby three children play in a sandpit.
A smartly dressed family group stand together chatting beside a car, the two older boy leave, and the three women look at the remains of a historic building.
Joanna reading to Richard changes to a large group of people standing outside a large building chatting. Joanna and a second woman walk across a field before laying on to relax and read.
A theatrical performance is taking place on the back of flatbed lorry outside a church, a large crowd stands around it is watching. The performance ends and the wagon is driven away, those onboard waving to the crowds.
Two women stand chatting in a street changes to an older woman playing in the sand on a beach with Richard. Joanna and another woman comes over, they walk along a beach. Joanna and an older woman stand chatting beside a car parked in a terraced street.
[Magenta cast] Farmers stand beside a paddock full of sheep, Joanna and Richard play in the sandpit in the garden seen earlier in the film. Two families relax in a garden or play with their children. A larger group of children play in garden watched over by a younger woman or nanny in a tent or marquee. Three small boys drink from metal cups and eat sandwiches.
In a living room Joanna dries Richard with a towel before helping him into his pyjamas. She brushes his hair before reading him bedtime story.
At the ICI Billingham Synthonia Stadium spectators watch competitors race around the track. In a second race they jump over hurdles. More races are recorded as well as competitors doing the high jump.
A number of young women including Rosemary Forsyth climb out of the family car and a picnic is held in a field beside a long carriageway at the top of which is a long stone column. The only child in the group, Richard, sits nearby in the hay of a recently cut field. They walk through the grounds Castle Howard and have another picnic in a different field.
A couple play with Richard in the garden of the family Sedgefield home. In another garden two women walk past decorative flowerbed as two boys play on the lawn.
A bagpipe band in tartan and kilts stands in the driveway of a large house. They fall into formation and march outside the house. On the balcony above the doorway a bugler performs as the marching band continues to play. In a nearby field girls in tartan dress perform traditional Scottish dancing watched by crowds. Two men perform a sword dance followed by people chatting.
Joanna and Angus cross a road changes to a family having a picnic beside a small moorland stream. A man fills a flask with water from the stream, two small boys play nearby as the adult’s chat. A man plays with the two boys, both of them trying to climb onto his back.
Four women stand in a garden while three children play in a nearby sandpit. The family enjoy a meal in the garden.
An older woman and two younger men come out of a building and get into a car parked nearby. A large group stands outside another building.
A birthday party and several small boys play on a slide in a garden watched over by Joanna. Other boys play on a swing set and run around on the lawn. Inside a birthday cake is cut, back outside home-made Native-American headdresses and handed out and worn by the children. They run around the garden excitedly. Joanna blows up and handed out balloons to each of the boys before party games and held.
Joanna and Angus stand on the platform of a railway station, Richard watches on from inside a waiting room. A train arrives and they kiss farewell. From a moving train a tower with a feature atop of it. Three men stand on a roof of a high-rise building looking out across the skyline of a city.
Joanna comes out of a shop in Amsterdam and walks down to a canal and boards a ferry. Ferry journey along the canals passing many Dutch Baroque houses.
