Joanna Forsyth, along with a female friend, walks across Palace Green in Durham accompanied by their children. At the back of Durham Cathedral her young son Richard falls on the cobbled road and begins to cry, Joanna comes over to comfort him. The group continue to walk around the exterior of the cathedral.
At Sedgefield racecourse tic-tac men wave their arms in the air while around them large crowds fill the stand. Horses speed past as part of a race intercut with views of the crowds enjoying the racing.
In the garden of the family home at Sedgefield Angus Forsyth wears a cardboard box on his head to look like a robot. He runs about pushing a toy wheelbarrow watched by his mother.
In the garden of another house beside a lake a group stand around a bonfire chatting. A number of them stand around a young man painting a boat, others walk along a small pier climbing onto a speedboat.
A group of spectators stand watching at a steeplechase event taking place in a field, amounts them two girls with binoculars. Horse’s leap of a fence before speeding past. The Forsyth’s plus friends go for a walk in the nearby countryside climbing over a stile and walking along a country road.
Children playing in a garden changes to show a group walking through a farmyard and into another garden. Some of them climb into the back of a Land Rover. A man plants a tree followed by the group following a path beside a rocky outcrop. They walk around a decorative garden admiring the colourful flowers.
Two men and a woman in a red jacket appear to be repairing a window of a large house followed by the woman with a group of people including the Forsyth’s having a picnic. Someone lights a bonfire. The woman in the red jacket climbs a steep embankment followed by her climbing from the boot of a car. Several the group look over the engine of a sports car changes to them climbing the summit of a windy hill. The group walk beside a steep stone wall and possibly the remains of Roman fort on Hadrian’s Wall. The group continue their walk, a woman being helped to come down an embankment.
Three boys walk across a field, a woman stands chatting by several parked cars. In the entrance of large school building a woman wears a dress possibly made with paper. A group of teenage girls stand beside another building, inside a hall crowds of parents and pupil wonder around. A girl wearing a long cone on her head walks past. Outside on the school field stalls set up by pupils and parents walk past. One stall with balloons is manned by three teenage girls. Parents and pupils play games on the field while beside a large school building people stand around chatting.
Joanna and Richard walk through the countryside, in the background Roseberry Topping. In a field Richard does forward rolls while nearby Joanna and a young man walk past a horse.
In a garden a man and woman watch over a group of children and they build something from wood. Joanna Forsyth takes a blanket from the back of a car and place it the grass beside a long driveway, nearby a woman watches over a small child. The three of them walk along the driveway, behind them in the distance a tall stone column. They walk around a lake before sitting on the ground with three other women including a young black woman in sunglasses eating who is eating an ice lolly.
Crowds of parents and children gather in the ground of school seen previously. Some walk past while others sit in groups on the grass.
Joanna and Richard sit beside a fence, they play together and find a chick in the grass which Joanna holds in her hand before returning it to its nest. Joanna and Richard sit in the bay window of a house changes to three eggs in another nest. The two of them walk across another field and cross a footbridge over a stream. In a garden a man and woman sit relaxing. Joanna and Richard feed chickens in a field followed by her helping him collecting eggs from chicken coop.
