A home movie produced John Scott Forsyth focusing on his wife Joanna, daughter Rosemary and son’s Angus and toddler Richard predominantly in or around the family apartment on the Upper East side of Manhattan. From the apartment a large procession is filmed making its way along 5th Avenue, the family visit Central Park on a number of occasions. They also visit friends living in Washington DC visiting the National Mall and Lincoln Memorial as well as going with them to a beach.
A boy and toddler play together on a grassed area near a building, a woman picks the toddler up and swings him around. The boy throws a baseball.
From the balcony of the family apartment looking down onto 5th Avenue large crowds watch a procession of marching bands parade past. From a different position overlooking 5th Avenue a procession of men on horseback riding past followed by platoons of soldiers and other military personnel. Crowds walk along the pavement below; one man carries a large Stars and Stripes.
The toddler stares at the camera and plays in a box inside his crib. Two women cross a sidewalk, behind them a boy walking a dog. The boy now pushes the toddler in a pushchair along New York streets accompanying his family on an excursion. The boy buys something from a street vendor. Inside Central Park the two women and boy sit on a bench sharing the candy purchased from the street vendor. They continue their walk through the park, the edges of the path covered in snow. The boy rolls a large snowball along before rolling it over the edge into The Pond. One of the women cleans the toddlers face with a handkerchief.
The toddler wonders around the family apartment naked changes to him being pushed in a pushchair past a large building at Washington DC. The family speak with another man in a park, he follows the toddler as he walks across a grassed area. Inside the toddler rests beside a dog changes to the family with friends walking through the countryside.
The toddler stands inside his crib watching a light on the wall being projected by his mother using a mirror. Two women and the boy pushing a toddler walk past the White House. They stand beside the Washington Monument followed by views of the National Mall and surrounding landscape from the top. The group walk along a busy road, the toddler asleep in his pushchair.
In a living room three toddlers play together changes to the family visiting the Lincoln Memorial. As they come out looking out along the National Mall towards the Washington Monument it is raining.
Two family gather for a picnic on a sandy bank beside a pond, the children go exploring. Food is past around and consumed, a young girl drinks from a bottle. The family walk past vehicles parked in a car followed by the boys playing catch on a beach. Some of the younger children dig a hole with the help of an older girl. They all go for a walk along the sand. The two family stand together in the front yard of a house changing to a phantom car ride at night.
The woman pushes the toddler past a blossoming tree inside Central Park, she holds the child so he can hold the Magnolia’s growing on it. On the Great Lawn boys play a game of softball while other visitors sit relaxing on the grass or walk along nearby paths. A crowd of children gather around a booth on the edge of the path as the woman and toddler walk past. The woman feeds the child ice cream from a cone, nearby children climb over a piece of sculpture joined by the toddler. A second woman joins them as they walk around a pond, they sit together at an outdoor café. The older boy sits with the toddler drinking juice. They walk past an aviary pointing at a white bird on a pitch.
Back inside the family apartment the woman and boy help to undress the toddler. The film changes the family with friends walking towards a flowerbed where daffodils are growing, the group walks along a path past other flowering plants.
In a school auditorium young girls sit on the floor, on their feet they clap, nearby two older women. The film ends with the girls leaving through a door.
