A home movie produced by John Scott Forsyth during the summer of 1957 of a family holiday to Chocoroua Lake in New Hampshire. Staying in a wooden house near to the lake, the film shows them relaxing in the grounds around the house or swimming and snorkelling in the nearby lake. A woman walks along a pathway holding a baby in her arms. She is joined by a boy and girl and they all enjoy a picnic sitting on large boulders.
The woman wearing a bathing suit plays with the toddler in the shallows of a lake, he begins to cry. The boy and girl go snorkelling in the lake. The woman washes her hair before walking back towards the lake from the car parked now wearing a green shirt and drying her hair with a towel.
Sitting in the step of a wooden house the girl feeds the baby from a bottle. The woman appears from behind the house carrying drinks and the three of them sit on the steps chatting.
In some woods two boys build a tree house, laying on a rug a girl watches the toddler. Beside the lake the toddler sits on the shoreline as a woman splashes him. A boy holds an inflatables lilo while his friend blows it up.
Back at the house the family enjoy a picnic in the garden under a shady trees followed by three children walking through the woods. Back at the house two girls take two toddlers for a walk in their pushchairs. The two boys pull down a tree using ropes while a woman hangs washing on a line. Beside the lake the two toddlers sit on the sand by the edge of the lake playing watched by a woman in her bathing costume. In the water the older children play around and swim.
Two boys walk along a stream changes to the lake and the woman and toddler-sitting along the edge of the shore. On the lake itself the two boys go snorkelling. The family walk along a busy pathway beside a river and stand under a wooden sign for the ‘White House Trail. Franconia Notch Reservation’. The woman carries the toddler along the trail towards a waterfall. She holds him as he takes a drink from a water fountain and holds his hand as he walks through a shallow stream.
Back at the house a girl poses for a photograph being taken by her friend followed by the families relaxing on a veranda. A view of a forest with a large rock formation in the near distance on which two people are standing. More views of people relaxing back at the house.
The two boys go snorkelling in the lake changes to an older woman at the house standing on the lawn as the two boys return. Back at the lake the toddler is helped walking through the surf. He sits on the knee of a woman who is knitting. On the lake people dive into the water from a pontoon. The two boys play together and the family goes for walk passing a rock face with writing and paintings on it.
A family walks through the parking lot and past a number of shop, possibly the town of Tamworth. One store in red and white have the letters ‘A&P’ above the store front. Back at the lake the family walks along the shoreline and across a footbridge that cross a series of small waterfalls. The two boys go swimming in the water, a woman sitting and watching nearby.
A boy and girl are swimming in the lake, adults sit on the shoreline chatting. They all play together on the beach and go swimming in the water.
Back at the house the family sit around outside talking with an older woman sitting beside a dog. The two boys get into a family car along with a woman sitting in the driving seat. She has to cuts back foliage that is encroaching on a roadway.
A girl feeds a toddler in a playpen, this is followed by him walking around the house. He then plays with two boys beside the family car. feeds Richard in a pen followed by him walking on the ground near to the house. He plays with his brother and friend beside the family car and playing around the lake with the other children, they all enjoy ice-lollies.
The family climb a steep wooden stairway, possibly part of a ski jump. At the top a girl speaks with a man followed by them all climbing carefully back down again.
The families stand outside the house, the girl pushes the toddler on a swing. She comes down a slide with him followed and sits with him on a seesaw. The family eat a meal in the forest sitting in a rock. Back at the lake two boys dive into the lake from the pontoon, the toddler plays with a used A&P coffee tin in the surf.
Four girls sit on a rock beside a river chatting over cans of Coca-Cola and biscuits. A boy appears in his swimming trunks and goes into the water, the film ends on the family enjoying another picnic.
