The film shows John, his wife Joanna and children Rosemary and Angus with friends either swimming and relaxing on a beach or relaxing in the garden of a house near to the water. Barbeques are held both on the beach and at the house. The film ends with either the Queen Elizabeth or Queen Mary cruise ship leaving New York, the Empire State Building seen in the background. On a beach a boy sits on bright red Lilo paddling and splaying in the surf. A man carrying an outboard motor hands it to a second who stands at the bow of a small boat moored on the beach. Two boys standing nearby; one carrying a large fishing net, the other wearing a cowboy hat and holding a fishing rod. They all get into the boat and head out onto the water waving back at the beach. A girl wearing a pink bathing costume and sunglasses sits relaxing on a large rock reading a book. The boy brings over a fish and shows it to the girl, the boat seen previously now pulled onto the beach in the background. A woman and girl walk along the beach and go swimming together in the sea. The sit together on the beach drying in the sun. Back on the water, the boy and girl play together with the lilo. The woman and girl come out of a church with two spires. They cross the road and walk along the pavement towards the camera, they are wearing matching blue dresses. Back on the water, the boy plays with what appears to be a log floating in the water. The girl and woman relax on the beach reading a newspaper. She looks up and smiles. A man and the boy stand at the water’s edge, a young woman in a bathing costume and hat swims in the sea followed by the woman. The family are joined by another walking towards a beach. On the sand the group work together collection wood for a fire; one of the men is wearing a handkerchief on his head. In the garden of a large house go back and forth from the house passed a tent erected on the grass. Back on the beach, they all sit together relaxing. A fire has been lit behind a large bolder and a man uses a pair of tongs to turn cooked foil wrapped food over a grill. Members of the group enjoy eating chicken drumsticks. Back in the garden seen previous a young boy and girl sit on a blanket laid out on the grass playing with another girl. The adults sit in deck chairs nearby drinking, chatting and relaxing. The children eat burgers and hotdogs on the blankets. An older couple chat with two young boys one of whom is holding a turtle or tortoise one. Back on the beach a man dives into the sea from a rock just offshore. He is joined by a girl and they sit together on the edge of the water. General views of a couple and woman walking along the beach chatting. In a garden a large group sits and chats. A woman runs past carrying a young girl on her back followed by three boys rushing across a road heading towards the beach. At a different house with a car parked in the driveway a group stand chatting before making their way toward a beach. The women are waring bathing suits, the men shorts and shirts. On all the beach they all prepare themselves to go swimming in the sea. In the water the group, along with the children, splash and play around in the waves. Along a long sandy beach, the men and boys play ball games while the women sit on deckchairs nearby talking. At a ferry terminal passengers walking onto a boat. The door of the ferry closes, and it moves away watched by a couple and a boy. Back in the garden of the large house seen earlier, two men and two boys take turns shooting at a target with an air pistol. The group make their way towards the beach once again, the sea can be seen in the background. On the rocky beach some of them go swimming in the sea while other sit on the edge in the surf. In the garden a boy rides past on a bicycles, back to the beach a woman and boy swim in the sea. Two girls swim in the sea followed by them sunbathing on the beach. Back in the garden beside the tent the group sit around enjoying a meal eating from paper plates. Back on the beach they have a barbeque cooking on a fire behind a large rock. In the garden the two girls, both wearing blue dresses, spin a number of small children. Two boys work together to erect a tent. Back on the beach views of the group swimming and relaxing on the beach. Beside a house a group stands next to a car chatting. On a patio area beside the house, a man in an apron and chef’s hat watches over food cooking on a purpose-built barbeque. Beside him is a large table a woman and boy. A young man in a yellow shirts stands nearby talking with two children. Wine is poured into glasses and other food items are added to the long table as people begin to take their seats. The group begin to enjoy their meal as the cook turns hotdogs on the grill. ‘I’m the Boss’ is embossed on the chef’s hat. The sequence ends with two boys sitting on deckchairs on the patio eating ice cream from bowls. Along a dockside, a large crowd watches as a cruise ship departs with passengers on board wave. A tug boats helps to move the ship into the Hudson River, the Empire State Building can be seen in the background.
