A boy and girl stand on the deck of the Queen Elizabeth cruise liner coming into New York harbour; the Statue of Liberty can be seen in the distance. They walk with their mother across the deck of the ship.
The boy and girl swim in a lake along with a number of other people. The boy plays with a piece of seaweed pretending it is a moustache, his mother then drapes it around his shoulders like a neckless. A large crowd fills the small beach as they come out of the water.
Beside a small hut a man with a hose washes sand of the feet of a group of children, a number of adults stand nearby watching. The man with the hose sprays water into the air splashing the camera. Three children play with a small dog.
A man, two women plus the family walk along a footpath, the boy holds butterfly net. The two women sit on the grass chatting. At a lake the boy and girl row in a boat with a man sitting in the back. They get out of the boat and join the women on the grass. General view of the lake surrounded by trees with a number of small boats on it.
A woman stands on a viewing platform looking out over the East River. Behind her is a large high-rise apartment block and a three-lane highway underneath along which traffic is travelling. A family walk along a path in a park with a building, possibly a church, build on the hillside behind them.
Two women feed a squirrel while a girl feeds pigeons. A second girl also feeding the squirrels. A boy is a suit walk across a field followed three. The family stands on the platform of a subway station, the woman reads a fashion magazine.
[B&W] On an iced over lake or ice ring two young girls join the crowds of people skating past. The two girl reappear and are joined by a younger boy and girl. More views of men, women and children skating together on the lake.
In the living room of an apartment building the family opening presents at Christmas. The two children sit in chairs waving at the camera while their mother opens a package. As she does so they rush over and watch as she opens the box. The family continue to open their presents, the boy a belt and his mother a dress which she poses with for the camera.
[Colour] In Central Park the girl is wears a traditional Scot’s cap or glengarry and stands beside a large boulder with the boy. At a café in the park the two of them sit at a table besides a large bay window eating a meal. Sitting across from Angus is their mother. Back in the park the three of them walk along a path, the woman wearing a large fur coat. At Central Park Zoo they look at a raccoons in their enclosure.
At a snowy suburban location, the family take a walk with a woman and two children both of whom are dressed in matching red one-piece snow suits. A man stands beside a garage with two sleds which he hands to the two children in red. On a small snowy hillside, the children taking turns sledding down at speed. One of the children in red scoops up snow with a shovel. The man seen previous pulls the other child along on the sled.
Sitting on the edge of a frozen pond or lake the boy puts on a pair of ice skates. On the ice the girl skates and performs various turns, including skating backwards. Other people can be seen on the late behind her.
Two boys walk through a park, one of them is carrying an American football. As they walk, they throw it to one another. The film ends on a tarmac pitch and two boys play hockey, one of them standing in the goal wear roller-skates, the other shoes.
