Santa parades through the city centre of York, ending at Rowntrees department store. The film opens showing a small green Mini van parked in a street, with its roof decorated for Christmas. A board in the shape of advertises Rowntrees department store. Behind the van is a parade of Mini cars all decorated in a similar way. The location changes to a place where a crowd is gathering. The film cuts back to the Minis. In front of the green van is an old veteran car. Several men in coloured jackets gather round it, and one or two onlookers come up for a closer look. Another change of view shows a group of elaborately costumed people including Santa Claus walking along a tree lined path towards the camera. The film changes to a street scene and a Christmas parade, which includes the decorated Mini cars seen earlier in the film. Another part of the parade further on into the city shows a Scots pipe band in procession, followed by the veteran car in which Santa rides and behind his car, the Rowntree Mini cars. The grand parade continues through the city streets. A roadside view gives a closer view of the parade, with the Scots pipe band passing by with a view of Clifford’s Tower in the background. Santa Claus sits next to the driver of the veteran car. The view changes to a high angle view as the parade passes showing some members in fancy dress ahead of the pipe band [over exposed section] A narrow street scene taken from a high angle shows the Minis driving past a branch of Saxones the shoe retailer. Crowds of people line the pavements. From a pavement some of the children with relations and friends look up at the camera looking down on them. An internal view shows Santa Claus sitting a decorated chair or throne. The room is crowded with people from the parade and the Scots pipe band. The parade members then head out of the room. The film cuts to members of the parade who are in fancy dress dancing along the road towards the camera. General street scenes show traffic moving down one of the streets, including a large Rowntrees van. More views of the pipe band follow as they march along a street towards the camera. The film ends as they march into a branch of Rowntrees department stores.
