This film shows the arrival of Santa Claus by boat at Scarborough followed by a parade through town.
The film opens on a parade of men and women all dressed in flamboyant theatrical costumes depicting a style from around the 16th century.
This brief view gives way to small boats moored in a harbour. A small motorboat carries a waving Santa Claus who is greeted by children at the harbour side.
The film cuts to an elaborate street parade with people in elaborate costume all taking part in the welcome for Santa.
Santa carries a large sack as he makes his way from the boat. He’s surrounded by children and adults, as he leaves his sack on another boat which is decorated for Christmas and also has a tree and will be towed along the street.
Santa sits in the boat and waves to the crowds. The procession is led by a band wearing flamboyant costume. A decorated car tows the boat and a message is placed over the radiator which reads: “here comes Father Christmas”
Santa Claus waves to the cheering crowds from his boat which being towed by the car.
The parade moves further into the town past a hoarding which advertises Jimmy Corrigans Amusement Park and urges you to “turn left”.
The next view is a town centre street taken from a first-floor window of one of the local buildings. Views show people milling along a busy pavement. The Christmas parade appears slowly making its way along the crowded street.
The parade stops at road junction, Santa gets off and walks away from the parade, followed by other members of the parade.
An interior view shows Santa talking to children, perhaps in a local department store, which has a welcoming decorated grotto.
The film ends showing a cartoon of Santa covering a first floor window of a town centre building, probably the store where Santa is present in the build up to Christmas.
