Birds flock around Marsden Rock near South Shields, in the distance a cargo ship sails past. Waves splash over rocky outcrops along the beach beside Marsden Rock, on top many seabirds and gulls.
A woman looks out across the River Tyne towards the High Light lighthouse and North Shields. The Herd Groyne Lighthouse at South Shields, nearby aground on the beach the steamer Adelfotis II.
An older couple work in the garden of their terraced house, he is holding a pair of clippers pruning a bush. Through a wooden fence a hand strokes the coat of a Scottish Terrier. A woman holds the dog in her arms. A second man comes to speak with the older man seen previously, they squat down looking at a bush.
On a beach a woman throws a stick into the ocean, a dog chases after it and returns it to her. She throws the stick again; the dog runs around her legs. The dog rolls around in the sands, a man now walks with the dog along the beach.
The film ends on daffodils growing in the grass.
