Summary The first of three camera roll shot by Dennis Wompra showing the movement of two massive metal structures, believed parts for the advanced gas-cooled reactor being installed into the Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station on the northshore of the River Tees. The film shows one of the two structures being transported by barge from Middlesbrough to Hartlepool and then by low-profile caterpillar tracked vehicles off the barge. The second structure is filmed been moved possibly from the factory where it was built to the quayside in readiness to be loaded onto a barge. |

The first of three camera roll shot by Dennis Wompra showing the movement of two massive metal structures, believed parts for the advanced gas-cooled reactor being installed into the Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station on the northshore of the River Tees. The second structure is filmed been moved possibly from the factory where it was built to the quayside in readiness to be loaded onto a barge.
At Middlesbrough Dock a large barge containing a massive cylindrical metal tank or tower with additional metal tubing is attached to the sides of the tower. On the water nearby a number of tugboats are moored.
A line is attached between the barge and a tugboat, a man watches as the barge moves slowly away from a quayside. Now out of the dock area the tower can be seen to be resting on a number of low-profile caterpillar tracked vehicles. Workmen go about their business on the barge as it moves out through the dock area into open water, at the rear a second tugboat plus a pilot boat manoeuvring alongside. A man and a boy stand on a concrete quayside watching as the vessels move out into the Tees Estuary.
A lattice steel structure, possibly the steel jacket for an oil platform, is under construction at another dock site.
Out in the Tees Estuary the barge and tugboats move slowly through the water, in the background the ore transporters at Tees Dock. Men throw ropes to others standing on a quayside as the barge slowly approaches. The ropes are tied up by those on the quayside, the tugboats at the rear helping with the manoeuvre. In the background a partially constructed building believed to be the Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station.
Men in hard-hats watch as the low-profile caterpillar tracked vehicles drive off the barge carrying the tower. Once cleared the barge the two tracked vehicles are drive away passing the lattice steel structure seen previously.
[Blank]
Low-profile caterpillar tracked vehicles carry the tower slowly up an incline through a construction site. It possibly passes the lattice steel structure and arrives at a dock area and stops beside the barge seen earlier.
At another site, a low-profile caterpillar tracked vehicle drives another large structure between two factory buildings, the shape of this structire is spherical. Banners are attached to the sphere and vehicle for ‘Rigging International’ as it travels slowly towards the lattice steel structure.
The final part of the film shows the original tower structure being slowly reversed onto the barge seen at the start of the reel.
